Jordan’s King Abdullah II has said his country will never become a ‘stage of regional war’. He said this on Tuesday after destroying part of Iran’s missiles and drones aimed at Israel last Saturday.

The King mentioned that Jordan is determined to keep the country’s security and sovereignty intact before everything else. He said, rather than protecting Israel from attack, Jordan’s intention was to protect its sovereignty.

Last Saturday night, Iran launched more than three hundred drones and missiles at Israel. One and a half hundred of them were ballistic and cruise missiles. However, most of them were destroyed before reaching Israeli airspace. In this case, Jordan joined the military forces of the United States, the United Kingdom and France. The citizens of Jordan protested against this incident.

Regarding this incident, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said earlier on Tuesday that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to divert the world’s attention from Gaza by increasing tensions with Iran. The international community should stop him from doing this.
