Israel wanted to attack the country on a large scale last Friday in response to more than three hundred missiles and drone attacks by Iran. The attack was also planned on a military base near Tehran, the capital of Iran. But later the Israeli government withdrew from that decision.

The New York Times reported this information about three Israeli officials. According to their report, Israel canceled the decision to launch a major attack on Iran due to diplomatic pressure from various allies including the United States. Iran’s interception of almost all missiles and drones aimed at Israeli territory also served as a factor in not launching a massive attack.

On April 1, Israel launched an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria. In response to this, on April 14, Israel launched more than three hundred drones and missiles at Tehran. The Israeli forces claim to block 99 percent of those missiles and drones. A few days later, Israel launched a missile attack on the Iranian city of Ispahan on Friday morning.

Israel’s Western allies did not want a full-scale war in the Middle East, according to reports from Israeli officials.
According to the New York Times report, Israel planned to launch a major attack on several Iranian military bases, including a military base near Tehran. It had the potential to spread conflict in the Middle East region. Such an attack would have been difficult for Tehran to avoid. As a result, the risk of a strong counter-attack on the part of the country would increase.

Israel’s Western allies did not want a large-scale war in the Middle East, sources from Israeli officials said in the report. Therefore, US President Joe Biden urged Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to launch a massive attack on Iran. The Foreign Ministers of UK and Germany also made the same request. Because of this, Netanyahu canceled his plan.

Israeli and Western officials told the New York Times that Israeli warplanes fired “a few missiles” from hundreds of kilometers west of Iran on Friday. Apart from this, attack drones known as ‘quadcopters’ were also launched to disrupt Iran’s air defense system. One of the missiles fired from the warplane hit an anti-aircraft air defense system in Iran. After learning that the first missile had hit its target, the Israeli forces shot down a second missile mid-air. The move was aimed at avoiding excessive damage.

Israel initially wanted to attack Iran on April 15.
The report also said that Israel initially wanted to attack Iran on April 15. The decision was later overturned amid fears that it could lead to a “significant increase in attacks” by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah in northern Israel. However, it was not reported whether there were similar fears in the case of Friday’s attack.

Israel, however, has not officially claimed responsibility for Friday’s attack. However, several officials of the country have confirmed that the attack was carried out by Israel. After this attack, Tehran did not say much. They did not even directly blame Israel for the attack. As a result, the risk of the Middle East region moving towards further crisis is greatly reduced.
