A new terminal is being built at the Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates. It will be five times bigger than it is now. It is said to be the largest terminal in the world.

The Prime Minister and Vice President of the Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced the start of the construction of the new terminal on Sunday local time.

He said that every year more than 26 crore passengers will be able to use this new terminal of the airport. Its construction is costing 3 thousand 5 billion dollars.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that in the coming years, all operations of Dubai International Airport will be transferred to the relatively new Al Maktoum International Airport.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said in an X post that an entire city will be built around the airport in the southern part of Dubai. Housing arrangements for millions of people will be there. The airport will be used as a hub for global air services.

Al Maktoum International Airport was opened in 2010. There are 5 runways and facilities to accommodate 400 aircraft. Dubai’s renowned Emirates Airlines will operate from here.

Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dubai Airports, said these developments will further strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading aviation hub.

Dubai International Airport has been one of the busiest airports in the world for 10 consecutive years. The capacity of the airport has been challenged due to passenger pressure. About 8.7 million passengers passed through this airport last year, which is the same as before the Corona epidemic.
