Israel considers Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera a threat to the country's national security. The cabinet vote comes after the Knesset, meanwhile, passed a law allowing Israel to temporarily ban foreign broadcasters deemed a threat to national security.
The approved law allows Netanyahu and the security cabinet to close foreign TV offices in Israel for 45 days, renewable. It will remain in force until the end of July or until the end of major military operations in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Al-Jazeera a provocative media outlet. He said, the provocative channel Al-Jazeera will be closed in Israel.
