Last April, the senior commander of Iran, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, was killed along with seven officers in an Israeli attack on the consulate building in Damascus, the capital of Syria. Iran and Israel got involved in counter-attacks.

This time again, on Monday (June 3), Israel launched airstrikes targeting Iranian bases in Syria. A military adviser of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was killed in the attack. At least 16 others died at the same time.

The Iranian news agency Tasnim News Agency, citing the IRGC, reported that an adviser to the IRGC was killed last night in a Zionist Israeli attack in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo. The name of the slain military adviser is Said Abiar.

In a statement, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, “16 members of pro-Iranian groups, including Syrian and foreign fighters, were killed in an Israeli attack on a factory in Haiyan, western Aleppo province.”

Last March, the Observatory Group reported that 52 more people were killed in Israeli strikes. That attack killed 38 Syrian government soldiers, 7 Hezbollah members and 7 pro-Iranian fighters.

Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian were killed in a plane crash last month. Not even a month has passed since this incident. Amid the ongoing war in Gaza, Israel is also embroiled in a war-torn situation with Iran.

After the attack of Hamas on Israel on October 7 last year, Israel continues to kill indiscriminately in Gaza as a response. Not only that, the country is also targeting Hezbollah and various Iran-backed groups in Lebanon and Syria. However, the Israeli military did not comment on Monday’s attack.
