Israel has launched an airstrike on a UN school amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The school, located in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza, housed many forcibly displaced civilians. However, the Israeli forces claimed that this school was being used as a ‘shelter’ for Hamas.

At least 32 people were killed and 12 Palestinians were injured in the attack. Aljazeera news.

According to the report, the Israeli army confirmed the attack on the school run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA).

In response to the attack, Hamas leaders said a permanent solution to the Gaza war and an immediate Israeli troop withdrawal were needed to agree to the latest cease-fire proposal.  However, Israel’s defense chief said the war would not stop during the talks.

The United Nations has warned that more than a million Palestinians in Gaza could face extreme hunger if the indiscriminate attacks continue.  However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not heeding these warnings.  Instead, he announced the launch of an ‘intense campaign’ against Hezbollah fighters on the Lebanese border.  Israeli troops have been exchanging fire almost daily with Iran-backed Hezbollah in the region for eight months.

The Palestinian Health Office reported that at least 36 thousand 586 people were killed and 83 thousand 74 were injured in the Israeli attack on Gaza from October 7 of last year.  At least 1,139 people have been killed in Israeli attacks by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.  Dozens of Israeli prisoners are still being held by Hamas.
