An Al Jazeera correspondent reported that five people were killed in an Israeli operation in central Gaza, including the popular mayor of Nuseirat, Yad al-Maghari. They lost their lives when Israeli forces attacked the municipal office.

In a post on social media platform X, the chairman of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, Rami Abdul-Maghari, called the slain al-Maghari “one of the most active mayors in the Gaza Strip.”

In addition, the Gaza media office condemned the killing of the mayor of Nuseirat. In a statement, the press office called the killing of Nuseirat Mayor Yad Ahmed al-Maghari a “war crime committed with the aim of creating chaos”.

Earlier, Israeli strikes also killed the mayors of the southern Az-Zahra and central Gaza municipalities of Magazi. In addition, the Israeli occupation has also destroyed the headquarters of several municipalities across Gaza.
