The X account of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s party has also disappeared just days after it lost the UK national election by a huge margin to the Labor Party. The official X account of the UK Conservative Party known as ‘Tories’ has been deleted. This incident happened on Monday.

When trying to access the page, only an ‘error’ message appears. This means, the account is no longer active. One of the messages even read ‘something went wrong’.

However, the accounts of former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and senior leaders of his party are still maintained on the site. Apart from this, the party’s official account named ‘@Conservatives’ is also linked with Sunak’s outgoing main leader’s account.

The group also has an account called ‘CCHQ Press’. They claim, it posts “various news, updates and analysis of CCHQ Press Office”. Although the account is still online, no new posts have been seen since July 3, a day before the election.

When contacted by the British daily Independent X, only an automated message was received, which read, “Busy now, please check back letter”.

The party’s activity on this account increased during the election campaign. The page featured advertisements attacking the Labor Party and announcing its own policies.

Various conservative sources have indicated that the account deletion error was caused by X, which they are working to reactivate.
