Outside of Africa, a person infected with the virus has also been identified in Sweden. In this situation, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a 'Global Public Health Emergency'.
Mpox first appears like the flu. After that, it causes skin lesions and becomes fatal. If you come in contact with a person with this disease, even from breathing, someone else can be infected. Since the beginning of this year, more than 13 thousand 700 people have been infected in the Congo. About 500 of them died. Earlier, in 2022, the virus spread to about 100 countries, including some countries in Europe and Asia. A global health alert was also issued at that time.
