The Israeli army is justifying the attack on a school in the Nuseirat area of Gaza. They claimed on Monday that ‘several terrorists’ were active behind the school, who were attacked.

“Recently based on intelligence and using specific weapons, the IAF struck several terrorists who were using the infrastructure of a school in the Nuseirat area to carry out terrorist activities under cover,” the Israel Air Force said in a statement yesterday.

The school in the Nuseirat area was run by UNRWA, the United Nations Palestine Refugee Agency. A hospital source said many injured Palestinians were taken to the nearby Al-Awda Hospital after the attack on the school.

“Hamas and Islamic Jihad are consistently violating international law, using civilian infrastructure and civilians as human shields to carry out terrorist attacks against the State of Israel,” the Israeli military said.

Last Saturday, the Ministry of Health of the Hamas administration in Gaza said that 16 people were killed in an Israeli attack on a school in Nuseira. Many refugees from Gaza took refuge in that school.

At the time, the Israeli military said its warplanes had attacked “terrorists” who were targeting al-Zauni school in Nuseirat. The school was managed by UNRWA.

The Gaza war entered its tenth month last Sunday. This war started from October 7 last year. On that day, 1 thousand 195 people were killed in the attack of Hamas in the southern part of the Gaza border of Israel. 251 people were taken prisoner. 116 of them are still held by Hamas. The Israeli army also said that 42 of these 116 people lost their lives.

On the same day, Israel launched a counter-attack on Gaza. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 38 thousand 193 people have lost their lives in Gaza so far, most of them women and children.
