An Israeli official said that his country had no involvement in the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi after the helicopter crashed. “We are not involved in this,” the official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Various countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Russia, China, India, Pakistan have expressed grief over the death of the Iranian president. The European Union also mourned the death of Raisi and other Iranian officials. However, there was no official response from Israel.

However, Israel’s opposition leader MK Avigdor Lieberman said that Israel does not expect any change in Iran’s policy in the Middle East after Raisi’s death.

Avigdor Lieberman told local Israeli media, “For us it (Raisi’s death) is not an issue.” This incident will not affect Israel’s attitude towards Iran. Because Iran’s supreme religious leader (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) determines the country’s policy. There is no doubt that the president of Iran was a cruel man. We will not shed a single tear for him.’

Yesterday Sunday, the helicopter carrying Raisi suffered an accident near Zolfa area of ​​East Azerbaijan province of Iran. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian and some senior officials were in that helicopter. Iran confirmed Raisi’s death today after an overnight rescue operation.
