German police have arrested two people on suspicion of spying for Russia. Detainees are German-Russian nationals. They have been accused of planning sabotage. The police claimed that the attack was being planned because of military aid to Ukraine.

Germany’s Federal Prosecutors Office reported this information on Thursday.

The two men, Dieter S. and Alexander J., were determining the possible location of the attack. It is reported that there is a US military base in Germany.

Dieter S. had been in contact with a Russian intelligence agent since October 2023. He allegedly told the Russian intelligence agent that he was ready to attack the military and industrial areas of Germany.

German newspaper “Der Spiegel” said the Grafenwoe military base in the state of Bavaria was among the possible sites of the attack. There, Ukrainian soldiers have received training in the use of US Abrams tanks.

Photographs and videos of the attack site were collected by Dieter S. He is also alleged to have been a member of an armed unit of the self-proclaimed pro-Russian Donetsk People’s Republic, or DPR, organization in eastern Ukraine from December 2014 to September 2016.
