Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. After that, the conflict between the two countries has been going on for 863 consecutive days until Sunday (July 7). There are reports of many casualties on both sides. However, there is no sign of an end to the fighting so far.

The Russian offensive has so far failed to bring much progress, leaving the situation unbalanced. A senior general in Ukraine said that Russia’s position in some places is good and bad. Also, Russia suffered heavy losses.

In recent weeks, the media say, Russia’s losses appear to be increasing. These are the reflections of recent attacks in Ukraine. Since the offensive began in full swing in February 2022, not much has gone according to plan in Russia.

After the US Congress passed a new military aid package for Ukraine, former Russian President and former Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev wrote, “We must win, despite the bloody investment of 61 billion US dollars.” Strength and truth are on our side.

Francis Dearnley, editor of the UK’s leading newspaper The Telegraph and host of his ‘Ukraine: The Latest’ podcast, opines on how long the war in Ukraine could last.

He says the West has been reactive and arming Ukraine instead of being proactive. It also allowed them to be used against Russia. While that may be enough for Kiev to survive, it cannot be said that they will win the war with certainty.

He also said that this Ukraine-Russia war is the bloodiest in Europe after World War II. This war has been going on for much longer than needed or predicted.

Meanwhile, Putin said last Friday that Moscow supports a full and final end to the Ukraine conflict rather than a ceasefire. But he reiterated that Ukrainian troops must withdraw from Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

At the same time, the Russian President claimed that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is avoiding the peace agreement.
