Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is leaving for Russia tomorrow on a three-day state visit. During the visit, he will discuss the situation in Gaza with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Palestinian ambassador in Moscow, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, confirmed this information. He said that Mahmud Abbas will reach Moscow on Monday afternoon. The next day, Tuesday, he will meet with Russian President Putin.

In the meeting, the two leaders will discuss the situation in Gaza since the attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, Ambassador Hafiz Nofal said. He said they will discuss Russia’s role (in stopping the war). Talk about what Russia can do.

Referring to the good relations between Palestine and Russia, Hafiz Nofal said, “We are going through a very difficult situation. Our relations with Russia are close. (In the current situation) we need to talk to each other.’

Over the years, Russia has maintained balanced relations with the influential countries of the Middle East. This includes Israel and Palestine. But after the Israel-Hamas war and Russia’s own aggression in Ukraine, Putin has increased relations with Israel’s enemies in the Middle East, Hamas and Iran.

Russia has been criticizing Israel’s continued attacks on Gaza since the October 7 attack by Hamas. At the same time, Moscow has been calling for restraint (in Gaza attacks).
