China’s 26 aircraft and five ships surrounded Wan. This was identified by the Ministry of Defense of the country. The ministry has identified this Chinese patrol around the self-governing island in the last 24 hours.

This information was confirmed by The Straits Times on Friday.

According to the report, China carried out this operation a few weeks before the inauguration of the new president of Taiwan, Lai Ching. This pro-American leader is going to make his debut in the government of Taiwan on May 20. Beijing considers Li a separatist leader.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense alleged that at least 17 of these aircraft patrolling around the island entered the Taiwan Strait bordering Adige.

The 180 km wide strait separates Taiwan from China. Although Taiwan claims to be a sovereign state, China claims that it is its own territory. China’s air force has been conducting regular operations in the past few years with such demands. Taiwan’s former president Tsai Ing-wen rejected China’s demands, causing tension between Beijing and Taipei. Analysts fear the tensions will escalate further after his vice president, Lai, was elected president of the island in January.
