Bangladesh Student League has called for flag hoisting, march and rally in solidarity with the ongoing student movement worldwide on the issue of independent Palestine. This student organization of Awami League will hold this program across the country next Monday.

This information was announced in a circular signed by the organization’s central president Saddam Hossain and general secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan on Saturday afternoon.

The leaders said that today the world is divided into two parts. In one part the absorbing class, in another part the exploited. I am on the side of the exploited. On the way, we express our solidarity with the movement of justice going on worldwide, holding this strong declaration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh Student League deeply understands that the students of various educational institutions around the world are conducting the movement against the killings and human rights violations of innocent Palestinian citizens, and they are facing obstacles and torture while protesting.

They said that Bangladesh Student League and its activists faced similar obstacles during the movement for the establishment of the state of Bangladesh 53 years ago and subsequently while agitating for the continuation of democratic continuity in independent Bangladesh. 17,500 leaders and activists of Student League had to sacrifice their lives in the freedom struggle alone. Bangladesh has always been active in the world for the establishment of an independent state for the Palestinians. One of the aspects of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s foreign policy was to achieve the independence of Palestine. Similarly, the strength with which her daughter Sheikh Hasina has raised the demand for the rights of Palestinians on the world map is incomparable-inconceivable.

The leaders also said, following in their footsteps, our unwavering support for peace in the Palestinian territories through a two-state solution as described in UN General Assembly Resolution 194 and Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338. Therefore, Bangladesh Student League is announcing a nationwide program in solidarity with the ongoing student movement worldwide and demanding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state by stopping the killings.

On May 6 at 10 a.m. at Madhur Canteen, the Student League will raise the Palestinian flag, march and hold a student-meeting. At the same time, instructions are being given to all the organizational units of BCL in all educational institutions of the country to hold this program at the same time.
