The Inqilab Mancha has once again resumed its sit-in by blocking the Shahbag intersection.
After BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman left following a visit to the grave of Sharif Osman Hadi, leaders and activists of the Inqilab Mancha returned to Shahbag and took up their position there again.
Around 12:30 pm on Saturday, Inqilab Mancha leaders moved from in front of Aziz Super Market to the Shahbag crossing. Earlier, the platform had announced that it would continue the blockade until those responsible for the killing of Sharif Osman bin Hadi are arrested. On Friday after Jumu’ah prayers, they began their sit-in at Shahbag and remained there throughout the night.
In the morning, at about 8:30 am, the protesters temporarily lifted the blockade from the Shahbag stage and gathered in front of Aziz Super Market to facilitate Tarique Rahman’s visit to Osman Hadi’s grave. At that time, Inqilab Mancha leaders had stated that they would return to Shahbag once the visit was completed.
On the ground, protesters were seen chanting slogans at the Shahbag intersection, demanding the arrest of those involved in the killing of Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
Osman Hadi, a prominent figure of the July mass uprising, formed the Inqilab Mancha in August last year. He was known for his strong stance against fascism and domination and was considered a potential candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency in the upcoming parliamentary election.
