Mahfuz Alam, who recently stepped down from his role as information adviser in the interim government, has signaled a return to political engagement with the aim of building a new kind of political force.

In a Facebook post published shortly after midnight on Saturday, he said that after speaking with people who were once hopeful about a new political framework, he feels encouraged to make another attempt.

Alam wrote that over the past two weeks he has held conversations with several hundred students and citizens who had earlier believed in the possibility of an alternative political arrangement. Reflecting on those discussions, he noted a shared sense of frustration and loss of confidence, but said the conversations ultimately led to a collective decision to try again.

In his post, Alam called on individuals who support an inclusive and discrimination-free system, human rights, justice, and a new political–economic order. He specifically appealed to those who are disenchanted with the existing two-party—now coalition-based—structure, remain ideologically principled, and favor policy-driven politics.

He said he wants to listen not only to people’s anger, disappointment, and unmet expectations, but also to openly discuss personal and collective mistakes, real-world constraints, and shortcomings from their side. After reviewing developments over the past year and a half, he said he hopes to explore ways to begin anew.

To facilitate communication, Alam shared an email address in the post for those interested in engaging.

He concluded the post with a message in English, stressing the need for new participants with strong values and long-term commitment, and ended with the hashtag #JusticeForShaheedOsmanHadi.
