Officials from the Trump administration are working to arrange a meeting in Pakistan later this week to discuss ways to bring an end to the conflict involving Iran.

According to two senior officials who spoke to CNN, the plan could involve JD Vance traveling to Pakistan, possibly alongside other high-ranking members of the administration. However, they noted that details such as timing, location, and participants are still subject to change.

Sources also indicated that due to security concerns in Pakistan, Turkey is being considered as an alternative venue for the talks.

Pakistan is playing a key mediating role in the diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran. It has already conveyed a proposed 15-point plan from Washington to Tehran, which includes issues related to Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Turkey is also involved in facilitating the process.

A U.S. official added that discussions regarding the visit were ongoing at the White House as recently as Wednesday.

Earlier, President Donald Trump stated that key figures leading the talks with Iran include Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and special envoy Steve Witkoff. It remains unclear whether all of them will travel to Pakistan for the proposed meeting.
