340 Bangladeshis Deported From Canada in Eight Months

Canada deported 14,897 foreign nationals during the first eight months of 2026 as part of its immigration enforcement efforts, including 340 Bangladeshi citizens, according to the latest data from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
The figures cover deportations carried out between January 1 and August 31, 2026.
India recorded the highest number of deportations during the period, with 4,227 Indian nationals removed from Canada. Mexico followed with 2,282, while 601 U.S. citizens, 580 Colombians, 535 Haitians and 433 Romanians were deported.
With 340 removals, Bangladesh ranked seventh among nationalities by number of deportations during the eight-month period.
According to CBSA data, the largest category of deportations involved violations related to refugee claims. A total of 12,005 people were removed from Canada for failing to comply with rules related to refugee applications.
Another 1,794 people were deported for other immigration-related violations, while 897 were removed because of criminal activity. In addition, 88 people were deported for providing false or misleading information in immigration applications, while 113 were removed for other reasons.
The data also shows differences in the types of removal orders enforced. Of the 14,897 people deported, 8,577 were removed under deportation orders, 3,303 under departure orders and 3,017 under exclusion orders.
Monthly figures show that Canada deported 2,658 people in January, followed by 1,270 in February, 1,432 in March, 1,917 in April, 2,369 in May, 1,791 in June, 1,837 in July and 1,623 in August.
The CBSA data further shows that as of August 31, deportation proceedings were ongoing against 1,368 Bangladeshi citizens. Across Canada, a total of 49,536 people were in the deportation process at the time.
Among those facing ongoing removal proceedings were 10,295 Indian nationals and 6,102 Mexican nationals.
The CBSA said it is responsible for removing foreign nationals who do not have the legal right to enter or remain in Canada. Such removals are carried out in accordance with established legal procedures.
