China has issued a stern warning to the United States, stating it is prepared to fight any kind of war with the U.S. in response to increasing trade tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. Following Trump’s decision to impose higher tariffs on Chinese goods, tensions have escalated between the world’s top two economies, bringing them closer to a trade war. In retaliation, China swiftly imposed a 10-15% tariff on U.S. farm products.

In an official statement posted by China’s embassy on social media, the message was clear: “If the United States wants a war, whether a trade war or any other kind, we are ready to fight until the end.”

This marks the harshest response from China since Trump took office. The statement comes at a time when the National People’s Congress is convening in Beijing, with the country’s leaders gathering for their annual session.

Additionally, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang announced a 7.2% increase in defense spending for the year, emphasizing that “unprecedented changes are unfolding rapidly across the world.” This increase in defense expenditure aligns with last year’s planned figures and is seen as a message of confidence in China’s economy, even amid the trade war threats.

China continues to portray itself as a stable and peaceful nation in contrast to the U.S., while also accusing the U.S. of involvement in conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.
