Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul has stated that a draft amendment to the rape law has been prepared. He made this announcement on Wednesday, March 12, after receiving a memorandum from the anti-rape platform at the Secretariat. The adviser emphasized that the law is being amended to ensure faster and more effective trials for rape cases. He also mentioned that the government follows a zero-tolerance policy against the misuse of religious interpretations to oppress or harass women. Additionally, he warned that those who harass women will face strict action. Addressing concerns over delays in rape cases, he confirmed that instructions have been given to prevent any postponement in the Magura child rape case.
