Ex-IGP Mamun Faces Charges as Co-Accused in Genocide Case with Sheikh Hasina

In the first case of the July-August massacre, former police chief Abdullah Al Mamun has been included as a co-accused along with Sheikh Hasina. The International Criminal Tribunal has granted permission for his interrogation on March 18. On Sunday (March 16), Abdullah Al Mamun was brought to the tribunal in a police van for a hearing regarding the genocide case. The tribunal also ordered the appearance of Awami League and Jubo League leaders Syedur Rahman Sujon, Mizanur Rahman, and Zakir Hossain on May 18 in the case of the murder of Ashabul Yamin in Savar. Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam stated that the former IGP played a significant role in implementing Sheikh Hasina’s commands, making him a co-accused. He also mentioned that the investigation into Sheikh Hasina’s case is ongoing, with hopes for a swift report submission.
