In a heart-wrenching incident from the Khola Mora area under South Keraniganj Police Station, a 60-year-old ailing mother, Rizia Begum, has been rendered homeless after her own daughters allegedly deceived her and took over all her property and belongings.

According to Rizia Begum, her elder daughter, Nurunnahar, and younger daughter, Yasmin, initially showed care and affection. Trusting them, the mother had kept a 2.5-katha ancestral home and her gold ornaments as her last hope for shelter and security in old age. But using manipulation and deceit, the daughters allegedly transferred ownership of the property to themselves and began treating their mother cruelly. Eventually, she was thrown out of the house, with neither daughter offering her any form of shelter or support.

Locals expressed deep sorrow over the situation, calling it a tragic betrayal. “A mother who gave birth to and raised her children is now being thrown out to the streets for property. This is not only a legal offense but a severe violation of basic humanity,” said one resident.

Attempts to contact Nurunnahar for her response were unsuccessful, as her phone was found switched off.

Currently, the elderly woman is taking refuge on the veranda of a local mosque, moving from one organization to another seeking legal help and justice. Appealing to local authorities, she has called for a fair investigation and the rightful restoration of her property.
