The first 18 kilometers of the Dhaka Bypass Expressway have officially been opened to traffic. The section was inaugurated on Sunday morning.

According to government officials, this development will ease road connectivity between the Bhogra Bypass in Gazipur and Madanpur, linking the Dhaka–Tangail and Dhaka–Mymensingh highways. Travel time is also expected to be reduced.

To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, CNG-run autorickshaws and motorcycles have been completely banned from the expressway. In addition, no U-turns are allowed along this section.

The expressway was inaugurated by Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges. Construction of the 48-kilometer-long Dhaka Bypass Expressway began in May 2022, stretching from Bhogra Bypass to Madanpur. Officials said nearly 80 percent of the project is complete, with the full handover scheduled for June 2026.
