Rashed Khan, General Secretary of Ganadhikar Parishad, has disclosed the identity of the man in a red T-shirt who was seen attacking outside the central office of the Jatiya Party in Kakrail.

On Saturday (30 August), Rashed Khan made a Facebook post revealing the person’s details.

In his post, he stated that the red-shirted individual is a police constable named Mizanur Rahman (BP No. 9717197243) and accused him of assaulting student leader Samrat.

Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Division, Mir Asaduzzaman, said that police were actively searching for the man in the red T-shirt seen attacking Ganadhikar Parishad leaders, and several teams had been deployed to identify him quickly.

DMP’s Detective Branch (DB) Chief, Shafiqul Islam, also clarified that the man wielding a stick during the attack was not a DB officer, and efforts were underway to verify his identity.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Medical College Hospital has formed a special medical board to oversee the treatment of Ganadhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, who was seriously injured in the incident. The board is set to meet today to discuss his medical care.

The interim government has also issued a statement condemning the assault. The statement strongly denounced the brutal attack on Nurul Haque Nur—President of Ganadhikar Parishad, a leading figure of the July uprising, and a politician known for his role in defending democracy, justice, and citizens’ rights.

It further noted that such violence is not only an attack on Nurul Haque Nur but also a blow to the spirit of the democratic movement that has united the nation in its historic struggle for justice and accountability.
