Police take Kamrul on remand, Solaiman arrested in murder case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday ordered a new five-day remand for former food minister Advocate Kamrul Islam in connection with the killing of jhoot trader Md Monir during last year’s student demonstrations against discrimination at Shahbagh.
In the same case, former lawmaker Mohammad Solaiman Selim has also been officially shown as arrested.
Monir was fatally shot on August 5, 2023, while taking part in a protest at Chankharpul. His wife, Rozina Akter, later filed a murder complaint at Shahbagh Police Station on March 14 this year.
