A judicial inquiry will be conducted into the attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur, according to Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

Speaking to reporters outside the residence of the chief adviser, Shafiqul said that Nur is currently receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and several party activists were also injured during the incident. He confirmed that a judicial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the matter.

“The investigation will be led by a High Court justice. Details regarding the terms of reference and the inclusion of additional members will be announced later. The committee will conduct a thorough examination of all aspects of the incident,” he added.

Shafiqul also mentioned that the chief adviser personally called Nur to inquire about his health and assured that Nur and other injured individuals would receive the best possible medical care available in Bangladesh.

The inquiry committee will also examine whether the Jatiya Party had any involvement in the attack.

Regarding the upcoming national elections, Shafiqul emphasized that no force can prevent them from taking place as scheduled in the first half of February next year. “We are confident that the elections will proceed as planned. No conspiracy can halt this process,” he said.

When asked about whether the political environment is conducive for holding elections amid unrest, Shafiqul suggested comparing current law and order statistics with those from last year. He stated that the police have been instructed to provide regular reports, and the government believes the situation is stable enough to hold elections as scheduled.
