DSE’s Daily Average Turnover Rose by 10% Last Week

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a mixed trend in indices over the past week, despite most company shares seeing price increases. The average daily transaction volume rose by 10.14%, while market capitalization grew by 0.2%. Trading took place for five sessions in both the previous and current week. A total of 398 companies and mutual fund units were traded, with 261 gaining in value, 108 declining, and 29 remaining unchanged. Meanwhile, 15 companies had no transactions. The average daily turnover reached BDT 518.06 crore, up from BDT 470.34 crore the previous week.
S Alam Cold Rolled Steels Limited from the engineering sector topped the list of price gainers, with its share price surging by 53.25% during the week. On the final trading day, its stock price increased by 9.77% (BDT 2.10) to close at BDT 23.60 per share. Throughout the day, 1,586,847 shares were exchanged in 1,498 transactions, amounting to a market value of BDT 3.68 crore. The company’s stock fluctuated between BDT 22.10 and BDT 23.60, while over the past year, it ranged between BDT 9.10 and BDT 29.90. Listed under the “B” category since 2006, S Alam Cold Rolled Steels Limited has an authorized capital of BDT 350 crore and a paid-up capital of BDT 98.37 crore, with reserves totaling BDT 40.70 crore. The company has 98.37 million shares, of which 48.50% are held by sponsors and directors, 34.5% by institutional investors, and 17.45% by general investors.
Other notable price gainers during the week included Bashundhara Paper Mills Limited (47.69%), Aramit Cement Limited (37.50%), Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited (31.91%), Safko Spinning Mills Limited (26.88%), Shinepukur Ceramics Limited (20.41%), Sandhani Life Insurance Limited (19.19%), United Commercial Bank PLC (18.89%), Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa Limited (18.4%), and Peninsula Chittagong Limited (17.24%).
In terms of transaction volume, Orion Infusions Limited led the market, contributing 3.02% of DSE’s total turnover for the week. On the last trading day, its share price rose by 2.26% (BDT 8.70) to close at BDT 394.20. The stock fluctuated between BDT 386.40 and BDT 399, with 497,951 shares exchanged in 4,140 transactions, reaching a market value of BDT 19.59 crore. Over the past year, the stock has traded between BDT 217.20 and BDT 700. Orion Infusion, listed in 1994 under the “A” category, has an authorized capital of BDT 100 crore and a paid-up capital of BDT 20.36 crore, with reserves amounting to BDT 11.09 crore. The company has 20.36 million shares, with 40.61% held by sponsors and directors, 12.69% by institutional investors, 0.5% by foreign investors, and 46.65% by general investors.
