In December, food inflation in Bangladesh decreased to 12.92%, down from 13.8% in November. According to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the overall inflation rate also dropped to 10.89% in December, compared to 11.38% in the previous month, due to the reduction in food prices.

Food inflation had reached its highest level between July and October, mainly due to disruptions in the country’s supply chain caused by anti-inequality student protests. During that period, inflation peaked at 14.10%.

In December, non-food inflation stood at 9.26%, slightly down from 9.39% in November.
