Gold prices have fallen again in Bangladesh, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) cutting the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,324 per bhori to Tk 220,858, including value-added tax (VAT).

The revised prices took effect at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, according to a BAJUS announcement.

The association said the latest adjustment followed a decline in the prices of pure gold and silver in the local market.

New Gold Prices in Bangladesh

Under the revised price list, the rates for gold of different purities are as follows:

  • 22-carat gold: Tk 220,858 per bhori
  • 21-carat gold: Tk 210,943 per bhori
  • 18-carat gold: Tk 181,200 per bhori
  • Traditional-method gold: Tk 148,016 per bhori

The new rates will remain in effect at jewellery shops across the country until BAJUS announces further changes.

BAJUS noted that making charges may vary depending on the design of the jewellery. Since VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, jewellers cannot collect VAT separately from customers.

The association also said its existing policies on buying, selling and exchanging jewellery would remain unchanged, with making charges and the value of stones excluded from the calculation.

Previous Gold Prices

On October 23, BAJUS had set the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 224,182 per bhori, including VAT. The rates for other categories were Tk 214,093 for 21-carat gold, Tk 183,883 for 18-carat gold and Tk 150,232 for traditional-method gold.

The latest adjustment brings the 22-carat rate down by Tk 3,324 per bhori compared with the previous announcement.

Silver Prices Remain Unchanged

While gold prices have declined, silver prices in Bangladesh remain unchanged.

The current prices, including VAT, are:

  • 22-carat silver: Tk 3,849 per bhori
  • 21-carat silver: Tk 3,674 per bhori
  • 18-carat silver: Tk 3,149 per bhori
  • Traditional-method silver: Tk 2,391 per bhori

Customers are advised to check the applicable jewellery-making charges before purchasing ornaments, as these may differ according to design.
