26,000 metric tons of Atap rice from Pakistan reaches Chittagong

A ship carrying 26,250 metric tons of boiled rice from Pakistan has arrived at the Port of Chittagong. After testing the rice samples, unloading operations have begun. According to a press release from the Ministry of Food, this shipment, brought by the MV Mariam, is part of a government-to-government agreement signed on January 31. Previously, another ship, MV CB, arrived at Chittagong Port with a rice shipment from Pakistan on March 5. The Food Department confirmed that 50,000 metric tons of boiled rice are being imported from Pakistan under the G2G deal, with the first batch arriving on the MV CB. The remaining shipments are expected to reach the port soon. Shipping industry officials noted the positive development of direct container ship services between Bangladesh and Pakistan, marking a new chapter in trade relations.
