Dengue Death Toll in Bangladesh Exceeds 100

Bangladesh has now recorded over 100 dengue-related deaths this year, with three new fatalities reported in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday morning, according to official data. This brings the nationwide death toll to 101.

During the same period, hospitals admitted 448 new dengue patients, raising the total number of confirmed cases in 2025 to 24,143. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) noted that 58.4% of those who died were male, while 41.6% were female.

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) accounted for the highest number of fatalities with 45 deaths. Barishal division (excluding city corporation areas) followed with 18 deaths, and Chattogram division (excluding city corporation areas) recorded 17. Dhaka North City Corporation reported 11 fatalities, while Rajshahi and Khulna divisions (both excluding city corporation areas) each saw four deaths.

Between Saturday and Sunday morning, 404 patients were discharged after recovering, bringing the total recoveries this year to 22,708.

New dengue infections during this period were reported across the country: 95 in Barishal division, 81 in Chattogram division, 84 in Dhaka division (excluding city corporation areas), 48 in DSCC, 34 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 57 in Khulna division, 34 in Rajshahi division, 8 in Mymensingh division, 7 in Rangpur division, and 2 in Sylhet division.

In comparison, dengue claimed 575 lives across Bangladesh in 2024.
