Two Dead and Ten Injured During Eid-e-Miladunnabi Processions in Chattogram
Two people lost their lives and ten others were injured in separate incidents during Jashan-e-Julus processions marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi in Chattogram on Saturday, according to police.
The deceased have been identified as Ayub Ali, 60, from Patiya upazila, and 13-year-old Saiful Islam from the Kalamia Bazar area of the city.
Nurul Alam Ashique, in-charge of the Chattogram Medical College and Hospital police camp, said Ayub Ali was caught in a stampede around 12:10 am while participating in the Muradpur procession. He fell amid the crowd and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
In a separate incident, Saiful Islam was killed and ten others injured when a small bridge collapsed under the weight of people in the Mohammadpur Sholoshohor area around noon. Md Solaiman, officer-in-charge of Panchlaish Police Station, confirmed the incident.
Police and rescue teams responded to both emergencies, providing assistance to the injured.
