Biman to launch Dhaka-Karachi direct flights from Jan 29

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to resume direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi from January 29, restoring nonstop air connectivity with Pakistan for the first time in over a decade.
A senior Biman official said the national carrier will initially operate two weekly direct flights on the route.
Earlier, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority granted Biman permission to operate on this corridor and approved the use of Pakistan’s airspace.
Currently, most passengers traveling between Bangladesh and Pakistan rely on connecting flights via hubs such as Dubai or Doha. The resumption of direct flights is expected to make travel easier and boost trade between the two countries.
Biman officials noted that discussions with Pakistani authorities had been ongoing for several months to reopen the route, which will be the first direct Dhaka–Karachi service since 2012.
The launch comes amid improving bilateral relations following recent diplomatic engagements between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
