UNOs Burial Completed in Comilla, Bancharampur

Burial of Bancharampur UNO Ferdous Ara Completed in Comilla

The burial of Ferdous Ara, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria, was completed at her in-laws’ family graveyard in Khanebari village, Daudkandi Upazila, Comilla. Yesterday afternoon, a funeral prayer was held at Shahi Mosque and the Eidgah ground in the village before she was laid to rest.

Ferdous Ara’s ancestral home is in Chandpur Sadar, and later she lived with her family in Sheikhdi, Jatrabari, Dhaka. Her in-laws’ home is located in Khanebari village, Daudkandi Upazila. Earlier in the day, her first funeral prayer took place at Sheikhdi Central Jame Mosque in Demra, Dhaka.

Ferdous Ara is survived by her husband, Md. Shahjahan, an assistant teacher at Khamarpur Government Primary School in Daudkandi, and their seven-year-old daughter.

Speaking from Khanebari village on Thursday morning, Md. Shahjahan said that Ferdous Ara had been suffering from migraine. After being admitted to Islami Bank Central Hospital in Dhaka, she suffered a stroke yesterday morning around 7:00 am and passed away while under treatment.

Md. Mazarul Islam, chairman of Chinamura High School in Daudkandi, said that Shahjahan studied Bengali at Dhaka College, while Ferdous Ara studied Zoology at Jagannath University. They later married after getting to know each other.

During the funeral in Daudkandi, several officials paid their respects, including Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Sharmin Akter, Additional District Commissioner (General) of Comilla Saiful Islam, and Daudkandi UNO Nasrin Akter.

Ferdous Ara joined as UNO of Bancharampur on January 9, 2025. Prior to this, she served as an Assistant Commissioner at the Bogura Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Earlier, she worked as a teacher in Zoology at Hasanpur Shahid Nazrul Government Degree College, Daudkandi, after joining the 35th BCS (Education) cadre.
