BCB President Aminul Apologizes for Excluding Journalists from Cricket Conference Event

The Bangladesh Cricket Conference was held last Sunday and Monday at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, drawing coaches, councillors, female entrepreneur representatives, and sports officials from all 64 districts and 8 divisions. The two-day event impressed many attendees, but it ended on a controversial note as several journalists who had received invitations were not allowed entry.

This incident occurred on the second and final day of the conference, which also marked the 25th anniversary of Bangladesh receiving Test status. In a video message posted on the official BCB Facebook page, BCB President Aminul Islam issued a public apology to the affected journalists.

Addressing the issue, Aminul said, “On Monday, November 10, an unfortunate incident occurred during the closing ceremony of the Bangladesh Cricket Conference, which also coincided with the 25th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Test status. I had personally invited you to the event. While organizing and concluding the program took longer than expected, I realized afterward that your proper recognition was not given, and despite extending invitations, the Cricket Board, including myself, failed to ensure your entry. For that, we sincerely apologize.”

He also promised accountability, stating, “We will investigate why this failure happened and take appropriate measures to ensure it does not recur.”

Aminul concluded by emphasizing the importance of journalists in the growth of cricket: “I apologize because you are a key part of advancing cricket in our country. We made a mistake, and we will strive to avoid such errors in the future. We hope you continue to support us, not only as observers but as partners in this journey, and I wish you all the best.”
