The raid on the television channel’s Jerusalem office came after Al-Jazeera was ordered to close its operations in Israel

The country’s authorities searched a hotel room in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, on Sunday. Qatar-based television channel Al-Jazeera was using the room as its office.

The operation was carried out at the television channel’s Jerusalem office after the order to close Al-Jazeera’s operations in Israel.

The news agency Reuters reported this news in a report.

According to the Reuters report, the operation was conducted in a hotel in Jerusalem on Sunday after the decision of the government led by Prime Minister Netanyahu to stop broadcasting in Israel.

Earlier yesterday, Israel’s cabinet decided to suspend Al-Jazeera’s local operations during the Gaza war. Israel claims Al-Jazeera is a threat to national security.

Netanyahu said in a post on social media that the provocative channel Al-Jazeera will be closed in Israel after the Israeli cabinet passed a resolution to shut down Al-Jazeera by consensus.

Meanwhile, video footage of the search at Al-Jazeera’s office has spread online. In the video, plainclothes Israeli officers dismantle and confiscate cameras and other equipment in a room.

Al-Jazeera reported that the search took place at their office in East Jerusalem.

Al-Jazeera referred to this activity of Israel as a “criminal step”. Allegations that the television channel is a threat to Israel’s national security have been called “dangerous” and “ridiculous lies”.

Al-Jazeera says such accusations put its journalists at risk. In this situation they have the right to take legal action.

Israel launched a military operation in Gaza last October. Al-Jazeera has been active in criticizing the operation ever since. They are seriously promoting the news of the Gaza war. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s media is under fire.
