BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport as he prepares to return to Bangladesh. He reached the airport at around 10:15 pm Bangladesh time on Wednesday and completed the check-in process before entering the terminal. He is accompanied by his wife, Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter, Zaima Rahman.

Earlier in the evening, shortly after 8 pm local time, Tarique Rahman left his London residence with family members for the airport.

Before his arrival at Heathrow, his special assistant Abdur Rahman (Sunny) and Kamal Uddin, the Europe coordinator of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, completed the check-in formalities for his luggage.

After more than 17 years in the United Kingdom, Tarique Rahman is set to return home. He is scheduled to land at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:55 am on Thursday aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.

The BNP is planning special programs to mark his return. At a press conference held earlier in the day at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, party Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed announced a three-day schedule for the acting chairman.

According to him, senior BNP leaders will receive Tarique Rahman at the airport upon his arrival. He will then proceed to a reception venue via the July Expressway, also known as the 300 Feet Road, where he will address party leaders and supporters and deliver a message to the nation. Following that, he will visit Evercare Hospital to see BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. He will later travel through Airport Road and Kakoli Mor to his residence in Gulshan-2.

On Friday, after Jumu’ah prayers, Tarique Rahman will visit the grave of Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. From there, he will go to the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War.

He also has programs scheduled for Saturday. On that day, he will complete national identity card-related formalities and later visit Dhaka University to pay respects at the grave of Shaheed Osman bin Hadi.
