Family members of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia visited her grave on Friday morning.

The family arrived at Zia Udyan in the capital around 10:30am. Among those present were Khaleda Zia’s daughter-in-law Shamila Rahman, wife of her late younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, along with granddaughters Zaima Rahman and Jahia Rahman, as well as other relatives.

During the visit, the family stood beside the grave and recited verses from the Holy Quran, followed by prayers and supplications. They remained at the site for nearly 20 minutes before leaving.

The grave had been open to the public for paying respects and offering prayers since after the Fajr prayer. However, public access was temporarily suspended for about an hour due to the arrival of family members, including Zaima Rahman.

On Thursday as well, BNP leaders, activists, and ordinary citizens gathered at the grave to offer prayers and pay their respects.

Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. Her funeral prayer and burial were completed on Wednesday. People from all walks of life attended the janaza. Following the prayers, she was laid to rest beside the grave of her husband, former President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan.
