Amid themes of love, separation, and grief, the new book “Anannya Suchona”  by investigative journalist Al-Baru Mustakim Nibir was officially unveiled on Friday afternoon. The launch ceremony took place at the Bangladesh Shishu Kallyan Parishad auditorium on Topkhana Road in Old Paltan, Dhaka.

The event was attended as chief guest by Md Shahidul Islam, President of the Dhaka Journalists’ Union and Editor of Manabkantha. Special guests included Jafrul Alam, President of the Old Dhaka Journalists’ Forum; Ali Ashraf Akand, President of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Council; Dhaka University Assistant Proctor Zakia Ahmed Jhuma; and senior Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Arabun Nessa.

Also present as special guests were senior teacher Roksana Begum; Faisal Tanu, senior journalist of Daily Amader Shomoy; senior journalists Shafikul Haque Pavel and Rafsan Jahan. Journalists Yuboraj, Raj Ahmed, Muktadir Abir, Niloy, Alif, cultural figure Siddiqur Lanik, along with professionals from various fields and distinguished guests, attended the program.

Poet Kamrunnesa Lovely recited poetry and delivered remarks during the event.

The author, Al-Baru Mustakim Nibir, currently serves as the Head of the Crime and Investigation Cell at Daily Manabkantha. He wrote Anannya Suchona in deep remembrance of his late wife, Suchona Akhtar Rokeya, dedicating the book to her memory.

The book poignantly narrates the untimely death of Suchona Akhtar, the author’s journey through grief, and his struggle to rebuild life while raising their two children—Muhammad and Mihrima. Through emotionally charged language, Nibir portrays personal loss, mental anguish, responsibility, and the determination to continue living. Each chapter carries a strong human appeal rooted in love, sorrow, and resilience.

During the reminiscence session, speakers remarked that Anannya Suchona is not merely a book but a profound expression of pain, love, and inner strength. They noted that the work stands as a quiet yet powerful testament to how people can find strength through words and memories even in the depths of grief.

At one point, as the late Suchona Akhtar was remembered, guests and attendees became visibly emotional. Speakers said the portrayal of a widower’s pain and the void left in the eyes of children without their mother would deeply move readers. They expressed hope that the book would serve as a source of inspiration—showing how grief can be transformed into strength and how one can move forward toward a new beginning.

The program was moderated by journalist Mostafiz. Journalists from various media outlets, writers, cultural figures, lawyers, relatives, and well-wishers of the deceased were present. The presence of Mustakim Nibir and his two children, Muhammad and Mihrima, added a distinctly somber and poignant atmosphere to the event.
