Mir Mostafizur Rahman, the father of July movement martyr Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdha, is currently receiving treatment in the Coronary Care Unit after suffering a major heart attack. The information was confirmed late Friday night by Mugdha’s elder brother, Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, through a post on his verified Facebook account. He wrote that he was sitting beside his father’s hospital bed in the middle of the night, watching his face, after doctors informed them that their father had experienced a severe cardiac attack and was now in critical care. According to physicians, the attack may have occurred at any point within the past 72 hours, yet remarkably, his father did not feel any pain—something Snigdha reflected on by saying that after losing Mugdha, no physical pain seems real to him anymore. Doctors plan to closely monitor him for the next 72 hours, warning that another attack during this period could be fatal. Even in this fragile condition, Snigdha shared, his father remains worried about a cancer patient he had promised to help with chemotherapy expenses, repeatedly urging his family to ensure that support reaches them. Snigdha described Mugdha’s compassion as a direct reflection of their father’s values and teachings. He also expressed deep anguish over witnessing fellow activists being beaten in the streets while he felt powerless, unable to leave the hospital due to his father’s condition. Throughout the day, he said, his father kept talking about Mugdha—recalling the first moment he held him as a newborn, his eyes filling with tears—and before sleeping, spent nearly half an hour reminding his son never to surrender and that ultimate accountability lies with Allah. Snigdha ended by asking everyone to pray for the recovery of a martyr’s father.
