Judges Under Scrutiny: Presidential Directive for Investigation

President Md. Shahabuddin has instructed an investigation into allegations against several Supreme Court justices. The Supreme Court administration announced this via a press release on Monday, January 6. Following this directive, the Supreme Judicial Council is set to commence its investigation next week.
Previously, in December, the council completed an inquiry into allegations of irregularities involving some justices of the higher courts, though their identities were not disclosed. The investigation report, along with recommendations, has already been submitted to the president, who is responsible for implementing the council’s suggestions under the established legal framework.
It has been reported that allegations against these justices include irregularities and serving as accomplices to the government during various periods before August 5. The Supreme Judicial Council conducted the investigations accordingly and forwarded their findings and recommendations to the president for further action.
