Thousands of Supporters Gather for Babar’s Release from Jail

Former State Minister for Home Affairs, Lutfuzzaman Babar, is set to be released from prison today after serving 17 years. According to the Department of Prisons, he will be freed after 1 PM today. Babar was acquitted of a life sentence in connection with the infamous 10-truck arms smuggling case in Chittagong, following a verdict passed by the High Court on Tuesday. The bench, consisting of Justices Mostafa Zaman Islam and Nasreen Akter, ruled that all charges against him were dropped, leading to his release. Supporters from various areas, including the people of Netrokona-4, gathered outside the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj, celebrating his release with banners and slogans.
