Ahead of the inauguration, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump arrived in Washington on Saturday. Reports suggest he may sign approximately 10 executive orders on his first day in office, though Trump hinted he could sign as many as 100.
Speaking with NBC News before his departure, Trump stated that he plans to sign a record number of executive orders on Inauguration Day. However, he did not specify what the orders would entail. When asked if he would surpass 100 orders, Trump confidently replied, “At least that many.”
According to Indian media outlet NDTV, during his previous term, Trump issued only one executive order on his first day, focusing on dismantling Obamacare. This time, his plans are far more ambitious.
Throughout his campaign, Trump repeatedly vowed to deport the highest number of undocumented immigrants in U.S. history and complete the construction of the Mexico border wall. During a rally in New York, he declared, “On Day One, I will launch the largest deportation effort ever and remove criminals from our country.” Reports indicate he plans to sign an order related to this initiative on his first day. However, immigration experts have raised concerns about the practicality and societal impact of such measures.
Trump has also pledged to revoke birthright citizenship, which currently grants U.S. citizenship to individuals born in the country under the 14th Amendment. He announced his intent to abolish this rule immediately after taking office. Additionally, he has criticized Biden’s open-border policies and plans to reverse them.
In energy policy, Trump has promised to increase domestic oil drilling. During a town hall interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, he emphasized his approach with the phrase “Drill, drill, drill,” arguing that boosting oil production in the U.S. would significantly reduce energy costs.
