After 15 years, Mohammedan became the runner-up in the Premier Cricket League.

As already known, Mohammedan has become the runner-up in this year’s Premier Cricket League. Apart from the confirmation of Abahani’s title two matches ago, Mohammedan’s runner-up has also been confirmed.

On Monday, the white and black finished this season’s premier league by defeating Gazi Group by 53 runs at the BKSP No. 3 field.

Ever-rival Abahani is not only this year’s champion. Also three times league winners in last 4 years. Compared to that, the Mohammedans have no success.

Mohammedan last won the league title in the 2009-2010 season, led by Khaled Masood Pilot. The previous year in the season 2008-2009, the last runner-up was the traditional Mohammedan of Motijheel Club Para. After 15 years, the Whites and Blacks finished second in the Premier Cricket League.

The bowlers were the heroes of Imrul Kayes’ team’s victory in the last match. Mohammedan was bowled out for only 176 runs (47.3 overs) due to the failure of the batsmen. No one could play a long innings.

Opener Rony Talukder scored 39 and all-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj played two moderate innings of 44 runs. Apart from this, Rubel Miah 18, Ariful Haque 16 and two bowlers Nasum 15 and Naeem Hassan 22 contributed little.

Later, spinner Naeem Hasan (3/27), Nasum Ahmed (2/16), Mehdi Hasan Miraj (2/24) and pacer Mushfiq Hasan (2/21) were bowled out for just 123 runs (32.1 overs). Gazi Group’s innings. Captain Mehdi Maruf (23), Habibur Rahman Sohan (12), Pritam Kumar (23), Sabbir Hossain Shikder (4), Al Amin Junior (1) and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbira (6) could not do anything.
