A Dhaka court has granted a two-day remand for former State Minister of ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, in connection with the murder of autorickshaw driver Hafizul Shikder. On Monday, Metropolitan Magistrate G.M. Farhan Ishtiaq issued the order after a hearing. Palak was presented in court earlier that day, where CID Inspector Ridwanul Haque, the investigating officer, requested a five-day remand. The defense sought bail and the cancellation of the remand, while Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki argued in favor of it. Following the hearing, the court approved a two-day remand. Hafizul Shikder was killed on July 20 in Dhaka’s Badda area during an anti-discrimination student protest when he was shot by the accused. His family filed the murder case at Badda Police Station on August 21.
