new chapter of consensus under the Chief Adviser’s leadership

The Cabinet Division announced the formation of the “National Consensus Commission,” chaired by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, through a notification on Wednesday. The commission, which includes the heads of six reform commissions, will begin its work on February 15.
Dr. Yunus will serve as the commission’s president, with Professor Ali Riaz, head of the Constitution Reform Commission, as vice president. Other members include Abdul Muid Chowdhury (Public Administration Reform Commission), Safar Raj Hossain (Police Reform Commission), Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar (Electoral System Reform Commission), Justice Emdadul Haque (Judiciary Reform Commission), and Dr. Iftekharuzzaman (Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission).
Previously, during his Victory Day address, Dr. Yunus announced the decision to establish this commission. He emphasized that its primary task would be to build consensus on urgent decisions required for conducting elections and finalizing the timeline for the polls through consultations.
