Bangladesh’s Economy is No Longer on the Edge, Says Economic Advisor

Economic Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has stated that Bangladesh’s economy has recovered and is no longer on the verge of collapse.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday (March 18) after a meeting of the government’s procurement advisory council at the Secretariat, he emphasized the country’s economic progress.
“The economy of Bangladesh is no longer at the edge of a cliff. It was once in a critical state, but we have been working to pull it back. Now, it has regained stability. Many are observing Bangladesh’s economic trajectory. While there are some mistakes, the overall situation is satisfactory,” he remarked.
Regarding the country’s transition from LDC status, he mentioned that efforts are underway to achieve the graduation by 2026. He also assured that U.S. economic relations with Bangladesh would not be affected by recent remarks from U.S. intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard.
On the issue of goods clearance, he noted, “The backlog has been resolved. Business entities often attempt to introduce various systems, but we are working to maintain control.”
