Dr. Yunus Meets Five Heads of State in a Day

On the second day of the BIMSTEC Summit, Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus held courtesy meetings and bilateral discussions with the heads of five member states. Following the summit sessions on Friday, April 4, he met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a formal meeting, which was followed by a bilateral discussion with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. During the meeting, the Thai leader congratulated Bangladesh on assuming the BIMSTEC chairmanship for the next two years, and both sides expressed commitment to mutual cooperation in development efforts.
Dr. Yunus also held a bilateral meeting with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, where they discussed enhancing regional cooperation and mutual support for development. Later in the day, he met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya at Hotel Shangri-La. Both leaders emphasized strengthening ties and economic collaboration between their nations.
In the evening, Dr. Yunus was also seen engaging in a casual conversation with the head of Myanmar’s government in the lobby of the same hotel, where they briefly discussed various regional issues while walking together.
